What Actually happens On An Engagement Session?

If you've already decided to go ahead with an Engagement Session, great call! You're probably excited, maybe a little nervous and possibly wondering what you've actually signed yourselves up for. So let’s help calm those nerves and walk you through exactly what to expect…
1 — Where Are We Going?
Before your Engagement Session, we'll have a chat with you about what you love doing and where you love hanging out. Then we’ll go there and do that!
Take the boat out, go for a hike with your dogs, grab a feed from your favourite burger joint, go for a swim at the beach, wander through your favourite neighbourhood — anything that feels like you as a couple in your normal life.
You'll be most relaxed when you're somewhere you love, doing something you enjoy. And being genuinely relaxed always make for the best photos.
2 — What To Wear
The single most important ‘rule’ when it comes to deciding what to wear is to simply wear whatever feels comfortable. Sounds way too simple, but overthinking it almost always leads to overdoing it. When you’re uncomfortable and wearing something that’s not really you, it’ll show up in your photos.
So, despite what you might have been expecting, there really are no rules. Dress up, dress down or anything in between. If you're relaxed and comfortable, what you're wearing will matter far less than you think.
The only two things that may pull attention away from the two of you are matching outfits and large, bold patterns. Outside of that, you're unlikely to go wrong with whatever feels natural to you.
And if you're the kind of person who genuinely can't stop overthinking your outfits, just bring along a couple of options. Some of our couples have done this and it ends up solving the problem completely.
3 — On The Day
We'll arrive a little before you to check out the location and get a feel for what would make for some great photos.
When you arrive, don't expect to be thrown in the deep end with a camera shoved in your face the second you get there. We'll just ease into things. And, depending on what we're doing, we might bring along some drinks or snacks and chat for a bit in between photos. As we've said before, we're literally just friends with cameras.
There's nothing forced or fake about how we shoot. Posing? Not our thing and almost certainly not yours either. We'll just give you some easy, gentle guidance on how to interact with each other naturally, be yourselves and have some proper fun. Nothing like what you'd normally expect from a photoshoot.
We’ve purposefully designed everything to be as relaxed and as down to earth as possible.
4 — Your Photos
Once your Engagement Session is done, we'll get straight to work on your photos.
While we're editing, we'll send a sneak peek or two your way, because we know you'll be dying to see something. Not long after that, your full private gallery will arrive in your inbox. Usually, you can expect somewhere around 40 - 80+ photos.
From there, everything is yours. Download, share and print however you like, or you can order prints directly from your gallery if you'd prefer the best quality prints that you can get your hands on.
Engagement Sessions with us are relaxed, fun and completely flexible. Pretty much anything goes!
